Museum in a Suitcase is the Kronau Museum’s travelling museum program! All suitcases are accompanied by a presentation, scrapbooks, and small artifacts.

Bless Em’ All showcases the history of the First and Second World Wars, mainly Canada’s and Saskatchewan’s involvement in the battles overseas and their contributions to the fights. Additionally, a large portion is dedicated to women during the war their importance—not only in the field, but also back at home. This exhibit touches on elements of specific war history, what life was like at home, and explains the significance of war brides. Bless Em’ All praises the brave men and women of Canada!

This exhibit focuses on the history of grain farming in Saskatchewan. Collected with assistance from the Saskatchewan Hall of Fame, the Saskatchewan Archives, and the Hudson Bay Company’s Local History Grant program, it includes various sections including the farm story, the affects of the Great Depression, advancements in farm machinery, and the history of the grain elevator. As well, you can identify and learn of common grains that are grown within Saskatchewan. From Field to Market is our tribute to our local farming history, which moulded our province to what it is now.

This exhibit recognizes the perseverance and dedication of every teacher in rural Saskatchewan and the immense contribution they made to the lives of all the children they taught. Learn how the classroom was run back in the early 1900’s, including the rules and responsibilities of teachers, how children were educated, and fun events held at school. This suitcase also looks back at a simpler time when food and fun were homemade and—although the work was hard—there was still the time to enjoy the modest pleasures and “simple fun” that held families and communities together including children’s games and fun community events. Reading, Writing and ‘Arithmetic is an acknowledgement of rural life when modern technology didn’t exist and the main form of entertainment was the imagination.

Roots and Radiance highlights Indigenous art forms as a part of daily life and an important pillar or cultural preservation. The presentation includes an exploration of Indigenous people in Southern Saskatchewan (Treaty 4 territory). The journey explores Indigenous beadwork and regalia, painting and fibre art, through names such as Norval Morisseau and Christi Belcourt. Roots and Radiance aims to teach about Indigenous culture and art, promoting understanding and respect.
